[Discussion] Why Aren't Intel's Low Temp CPUs Available to the Public?

Comparison - Both have have 2 cores with hypthreading for 4 logical cores. Neither are capable of Turbo Boosting.

6100 - 3.7ghz, 3mb cache

6300t - 3.3ghz, 4mb cache

6100 - currently $125 - MSRP $117/$117 BOX/TRAY

6300 - currently not sold - MSRP $147/$138 BOX/TRAY

According to Intel Data Sheet Thermal Test

6100 (PCG 2015c proccessor) @ 51w - ~64C

6300t (PCG 2015a proccessor) @ 35w - ~58C

Annual Home Power Cost - $3.86 savings for the 6300T

Conclusion/Opinions: T processors are good for notebooks because they'll draw less battery power. More CPU shoppers are building "Desktops" than notebooks so Intel is probably reserving T-sku's for bulk manufacturing orders. I think when they say MSRP they really just are giving a value gauge (technically that is all MSRP is as well). If you could buy a T-sku at MSRP though, I would still say that $.01 everyday is not significant savings nor is it worth the performance loss.

Bonus: Get a quiet aftermarket cooler if you don't want to hear the stock cooler blowing.
