I ask because mom (53, doing through or post menoapise, has fibromyalgia, depression, overweight but not diabetic, and vegetarian).
The docs dont really do much and she's stopped the fibro specific meds and has overall reduced the pills she takes.
One of the more important for her is sertraline, keeps her relatively safe.
I've also recently shown her high carb, at least before sleeping ends up big fibro flares in the am.
She doesnt work so schedule is irrelevant.
Were working on lowering carb (mostly eats rice and lentils, cus indian) but we've cut out most rice. I've added eggs, a bit more milk, salads and fats in her diet.
Can't do keto and it's not sustainable, especially as a vegetarian.
It doesnt sound like she high serotonin syndrome but could've been confluenced with fibro.
We've also started regular exercise now, min 20 min on elipitcal. Obvious benefits.
So far I've found that
people anecdotally report less flare outs with less carbs.
Trt has has shown to reduce pain in menopausal women by upto ~50% in those that respond. Had her test, free test, t3 t4 free t3 and t4, e2, progesterone xhecked. Shes low in all basically, no surprise.
Docs obvi won't do trt for women in Canada. So I did give her a pin but she refused after because I think she had some virilization down there or tingles.
Working on letting her read the studies eventually and what to expect.
Now I'm just boiling tiny nugs in milk for now to see if she responds okay.
Assuming that increased physical activity leads to better sleep as well.
She has poor sleep routine but am fixing that with mor book reading and less screen time. But a struggle for sure
Sorry for the long explanation but I did it hoping you'd have insights or maybe you'll notice something during your research.
