[Discussion] Buying used guitars can expose you to some real characters.

I uploaded my guitar on Craigslist and this dude called me up saying he would buy it. After a 3 hour drive, I met him. Dude had that weird vibe around him and had that scammer face. After he was finished with inspecting my guitar, he asked if I could pay for his set-up. I was like dafuckinghell, and would usually tell this sketchy motherfucker to fuck off, but that 3 hour drive made me think like, I should just finish this deal. Oh did I mention, that dude was laughing mockingly at me when I agreed with his deal? Only today hutkesucha I thought, and with that disgusting event I left the scene.

The next day that slimy git called me and told me he wanted a refund because he couldn't get the truss rod set up he wanted to be. I told him that was literally none of my business, and told him it's his fault after when the transaction was complete. Then he switched his phone to a 'luthier', and that 'luthier' told me he couldn't move the truss rod since it was 'too tight for him and he might break it' and I should give him a refund.

Of course I did what I had to do. I asked if I could look at the guitar a day later, the buyer said he simply didn't have time to show me the guitar, as well as he didn't bother to come all the way where I lived for inspection. Red flag #1. I asked who this luthier is and the luthier did not wanted me to give any information about him. Red flag #2. I also asked this luthier specifically of what the customer wanted to do with the guitar. The luthier and the buyer told me to 'mind my own f***ing business'. Red flag #3.

We fought, until I decided to give the guy the half of the purchase amount if he would stop calling me every 10 minutes. It was arguing with this guy for half a decade or just throwing half the money to getting my work done on time so I could get some sleep I deserve. Dude gave out that disgusting laugh again, and told me he will be expecting the money soon.

Guys no matter how desperate you are, never sell your gig to a guy who looks... sketchy.
