[Discussion] As a dog owner, how do you feel when you’re walking your dog and you walk past a reactive dog?

I have a very well behaved 6.5lb chihuahua and when I see small reactive dogs I check out my guys body language. My little guy reads other dogs barks really well. We will stop a little way back and if my guy tells me (by NOT barking back and a calm stance) the other dog is fine, I ask if they can say hi. Most people are scared to try, but I reassure them my guy will back off if their dog doesn't like him (I won't keep pushing if they say no again). 99% of the time the other little dogs fall in love with my guy. The other 1%, if my dog gets closer and the bark turns to a growl, then my dog turns around and comes back to me.

When I see big reactive dogs that are barking I will step aside and usually tell the other person how beautiful their dog is (I truly feel every dog is beautiful). I'm not nervous and so my little guy is not nervous and just stands there and waits with me, but I generally don't ask for them to say hi, because of size differences.
