[Discussion] How much difference can a year of extreme hardwork and sacrifice make ?

Only one way to find out. But I think ultimately you need a goal; otherwise, you'll work your ass off for a year and gain something, but maybe not have a sense of accomplishment.

I'm finding more and more that I need boundaries for my work. I'm not one of those guys who can dilly dally all morning and "get to work sometime later today." My best bet is to schedule ample time for my morning routine, and once it's out of the way, sit down and start working on the first mission-critical task. I did that several days straight last week and was so pleased with the results. Next step: make that sustainable. Kinda hard bc I'm dog/housesitting for the next week, and the puppy drama is high. But we do what we can!

Anyway, some people accomplish amazing things balancing every day of their lives. Balance on the short term. I prefer to think about bursts of activity, which leads to short-term imbalance (concentrating on a project), but long-term balance.

I don't think it's so much working hard every day for a year (which is a fine idea, but not very realistic or practical), but working with appropriate intensity for a finite goal. Don't just work for a year and see how far you get. Work hard for a week and reach a nearer, reachable goal. Also, form a plan of action that yields the results that get you closer.

Would recommend you get in touch with your dreams and goals, then set a course and read The War of Art (not a typo) by Pressman. Whether you're an artist or not, it will familiarize you with resistance, which is whatever keeps you from doing your work.
