[Discussion] How do we now approach the Europa League?

I think we “go for it” but I don’t think we will play a lot of the A squad.

De Gea will not play. AWB will not play. Bruno will not play. Rashford, Pogba, Martial, Matic will likely not play.

I’m okay with it. I think we can still go for it if those guys don’t play. Odin, Fred, Scottie McT, Greenwood, Bailly, Dalot, Andreas, Lingard I think will all get the bulk of the playing time and I think they could win it. We don’t need to risk the plans for next season for what is now a meaningless tournament. It’s a trophy sure but we’ve won it before so it’s not like we need it. The idea should be bigger picture right now.

Use this Europa tournament as a test on who can be a quality squad player. What positions do we have depth in. This will allow us to know where to attack in the transfer window. I mean I think it’s pretty obvious but may allow us to not overpay for certain players (I’m not including sancho for this example thinking DM, CB).

Yes we are United and we should try and win everything we are involved in. And I think we can still do that playing the B squad and resting important figures for longer term success.
