Discussion: I just don’t understand how WB can fumble the ball this badly when there was a plan in the beginning

It depends on how you look at the Flashpoint film though. On one hand it’s the first Flash film and it’s central focus in its past might lend well to the core of the story and the characters origin. On another hand it’s about the DC multiverse and how his actions impact and change the status quo, except debatably we don’t have a status quo to change. I’m wondering how they make inversions or perversions of these characters work without that, are they inversions of what we already know with the DCEU or of the expected canon. Then if you also view it’s role as shifting the canon established and connecting it to the history of TDK or Batman 89 then it might as well be treating it as if he’s had a trilogy.

Also I think the OP was trying to say that it’s hypocritical of WB to announce the Coates Superman project whilst being amid investigations and claims of their treatment for a premier black character and Ray Fisher. Seeing the two cuts it’s quite clear characters of colour where almost completely removed. So saying it has “zero” to do with it kind of misses the point, if the goal for WB is to show how diverse or inclusive they are then it’s a hypocrisy when we’ve seen what they’ve done so far. It feels like a big budget bandaid made to distract from what they’ve been doing. At least this time it’s a real film unlike the stunt they pulled with Jason Momoa being Frosty the Snowman.
