[Discussion] I think at least a small part of greater Reddit's hate for this sub is due to sexism.

Yeah, it’s really terrible, but I have real hope for the future for the choice of being childfree becoming more acceptable in society.

Look at what happened to Japan. Being childfree is a norm in that society as the country never really recovered from their Lost Decade. People there are overworked and saddled with a high cost of living, making it normal to opt out of having children.

At least in the US, we’re heading in that direction too. While our economy “recovered” from the Great Recession, regular folks have not. There are many people who will eventually come to see parenthood as a choice, not an obligation, out of necessity. As much as it sucks for those people who want kids but can’t afford it, it will make things easier for the rest of us childfree folks when being childfree is normalized.
