Discussion Megathread: Senate edges close to passing scaled-down ObamaCare repeal

can give you a serious answer to that if you want. moderate who drifts right and left at times so have some perspective. the right is rather ignored by what we'd call normal society when they try to hold people to standards of morality while the left does typically have some weight to their words when they try to hold others to higher standards. it's often ignored by the right, that's for sure, but for the most part people tend to listen to the left more than the right about what people "should" do. the side effect of that, unfortunately, is that the left is also held to higher standards than the right. having the moral authority to hold others to higher standards does come with the side effect that you, yourself, will be held to higher standards as well. just think of being able to hold others to higher standards and being held to higher standards as being connected to the people that aren't explicitly on the right or the left. you can give up being held to a higher standard but it will come at a cost.
