[Discussion] The Silent Majority

I understand your frustration, but let me play devils advocate for just a moment, por favor......

People are angry for many reasons, but the one unifying reason that I can come up with why people are so angry? THEY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME.

If you played the beta, you ran through Devil's Lair. Devil's Lair is one of the most unique levels in all of Destiny, and set the precedent for almost every strike: Entry into the stronghold, 3 waves/majors, standoff with the bosses guards, final boss. But Devils Lair made it awesome because how it was presented had not been done in a game like this, which the concept in itself is revolutionary. From the moment you start Devil's Lair to the moment Sepiks Prime blows up into a purple blaze of glory, you knew that this game was going to be special.

We bought the game, saw that it was light in story......we still don't know who or what our guardian was in a past life, nor what happened prior to the collapse, even after we raided and looted the archive on Venus. Something was fishy from a story point of view.

Then we found out from a subreddit that the story from the game and all of the hard work a lot of people put in had been gutted do to cost cutting reasons/office polidicks. But we believed that the season pass could salvage some of the mess, even though it would mean paying almost $100 for a $60 game. Even that turned out to be wrong, because glitches were prevalent throughout the raids, sometimes making them unfinishable due to server constraints.

Some of us have put in over 1000 hours over 3 characters. And that's 1000 ours of glitches, 1000 hours of repetitive missions, 1000 hours of grinding for that last raid piece, just so we can grind shards in order to upgrade it. And we have done so much, not just for ourselves, but for our friends and XBL and PSN buddies...and hell let's ad Bungie to the list, because without consumers, without grinders, without casuals, there is no Destiny.

We, as an active gameplay community, literally hold jobs in our hands. We praise when something goes right, and complain and protest vocally when things go wrong. But we have a right to. We invested into this game, knowing we can't take the game back. Yes you can sell it or trade it in. But Bungie has already sold their copy and met their quotas. They need to sell you further into the ecosystem (i.e. expansion pass content) in order to be able to pay their employees for Destiny 2 and Comet DLC's. So if this was their best hand, then I know a lot of people that will be dissapointed because people expected more. BECAUSE THEY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME.

Although I disagree with the constant circle-jerking that goes on in every forum, circle jerking has a positive: it shows you who really, truly loves this game. Don't diss those people. Embrace it. Understand it. And walk a mile in that guardians's shoes.

All we want in the end, is to become Legend.
