[Discussion] Those of you working in tech--how is your life satisfaction right now?

Hey, BA native here. My jobs were always ancillary to tech in that I was doing PR for tech firms. Talk about an industry replete with rude bois and mean girls. No career advice but maybe a LPT?

What do you do outside of work? Lucky for me I took up a hobby where I could very quietly achieve personal benchmarks without feeling the need to brag. (Except internally.)You'd better believe I was a silent, smug SOB on Monday mornings when the bros would talk about their "Straaaava" stats in "Wooooodside" right after I did the Death Valley Double. (In case you haven't caught on my hobby was ultracycling. Great people BTW.)

Long story short it did wonders for my self-esteem and job satisfaction. Who fucking cares if work is full of jerks? Work bought my Trek. Work "paid" for my motel in Bishop. Work finances my Hammergel habit.

And when that is all said and done, I still have a personal achievement that NO hr manager, nor VC, nor idiot team "leader" can ever take from me.

Sorry you're frustrated, OP. The Bay Area has been super-alpha for as long as I've been alive. (In the 80s, it was all about the lawyers and RE developers. In fact, a family lawyer friend was once taking GG Transit from Marin into the City. He stood up one day and said, "Raise your hand if you're an attorney!" Damned if 90 percent of the passengers raised hands.)

At any rate, here's wishing you peace of mind.
