The answer is that Sony did a bad job at facecontrol who they sell consoles to. If nightclub bouncers allowed scalpers, every nightclub would be a simp sausage fest, devaluing it for everyone at the end of the day. So, there is no way to get into some nightclubs even if you are ready to pay 1000% of the cover charge.

Facecontrol is a totally normal thing if your main source of revenue is not the sale itself. Like, the aforementioned nightclubs don't make money on cover charge, so they don't care even if you are ready to pay 15$ for a cover instead of usual 5$.

Scalpers will make a couple of hundred bucks per console, but Sony will lose far more. Consoles sit and collect dust in scalper warehouse, no PSN memberships or game sales, and also no pictures of grown men on instagram jumping up and down that they got a PS5 as a christmas present(that is a giant free ad), and also PS5 will get a reputation of an expensive device, that delivers a very underwhelming performance for the money. Not to mention that everyone who cannot afford scalper's services might choose other platforms and never come back. Scalpers think that they rob the people, but actually they rob Sony. People always have the choice to not buy.

Where I live, Costco was immune to scalping, because a scalper cannot purchase 3500 costco memberships to buy 3500 playstations, it just doesn't make any financial sense. They had stock the for the longest time. If I was a head of Sony's sales, I would only sell to people who rack 60+ gaming hours a month on PSN for first three months. Initial scarcity is inevitable, so you gotta go smart about it. Those are pretty much the influencers, you want to get them on the platform first and greasy scalpers can only influence the platform in the negative way, reducing the total revenue Sony can collect from it.
