It's amazing that are still people in this subreddit who think the American political situation can be salvaged. How can people not see it doesn't matter whether or not the Dems win in terms of the broader mood/environment?

It's hard to put into words in how much contempt I have for this kind of fatalism. Nobody is saying that if the Dems win that America will be fixed and Trumpism will be defeated. Fixing the problem will take years and decades of hard work, and Democrats winning enough may not be quite the step forward yet, but at least it wouldn't be a step back. Every step taken back will need that much more work.

Every little step matters. Local elections matter. Midterms matter. Fascism wins when people stop fighting it. And people stop fighting when they're told it's all pointless anyways.
