Discussion Thread

So there was this fascinating article a while ago, and it was obviously tech based, they were discussing imitation, news, and authenticity while also tying it into the future of civilization. They were showing off technology that is available today, and how it will improve in the future - voice manipulation, automation, 3D replication in video and audio.

Anyways, if that all flew over your head just understand that the ability to create video of someone saying something they never did is very possible, and will be happening soon.

This Macron situation is yet another example of the fact that society, isn't ready. Here's a man who stated something relatively mediocre and the media has ran with it (also seen with Trump, Clinton(s), Musk, etc) -- can you actually imagine what it would be like in a society where you can't differentiate between what is real and what isn't? That the entire push against 'fake news' becomes utterly feeble because there's no (convenient) way to determine if a video is legitimate?

Something to think about. Also no, not defending Macron here or calling the video an example of that automation lmao, just tying the technology that was discussed into current events.
