Discussion Thread: GA-06 and SC-05 Special Elections

I'm a Trumper. Honestly, Hillary was a good candidate. She really is a tough cookie, no Republican stood up to Trump as well.

I'm not sure how old you are, but people over 35 remember the Clinton years and America changed a lot during that time. Some for the better, Clinton's attitude on fighting AIDS was correct, but everything else he did turned into a dumpster fire.

College loans for everybody? Fail. govt. had to forgive a lot of them and a lot of kids from blue collar families gave up the family business to go to college and leave with nothing but debt and responsible for the very well performing family business not continuing. All that money flowing to colleges is what helped the economy, and it was all just fake growth. Education was firmly behind Hillary because they were ready for the next round of handouts and we've seen how that went before.

Under Bill, the US became a police state. Police forces grew a huge percentage and they just started to nit pick people, cops became annoyances rather than protectors. It really changed America and raised the tension with police that continues today.

NAFTA, Bill's NAFTA fucked people so hard it's not funny. Hillary's globalism is more of the same.

We've seen the Clinton's policies in action before, they all turned out horribly in the long run. Everyone saw Hillary as Bill 2.0.

Hillary was just a continuation of business as usual. Just like Bill Clinton and the Bushes.

On to coal. Coal is very viable still, it's just dirt cheap and a lot of plants are set up to use it. It's practical.

Education: Trump wants to give people a better education by giving them a choice. This is how Trump was able to earn some African-American votes. African Americans want their kids out of the dangerous public schools and in safer charter schools. It really does make a better quality of life for the children and a better or equal education. These schools operate on a much tighter budget and usually do a better job, and certainly keep the kids safer.

Trump has brought a lot of jobs back to the rust belt and he'll bring more when NAFTA is ended or renegotiated.

Appalacia, to be honest I don't know much about this, but it's coal country, Trump is trying. The problem is that's all that is there other than outdoorsy stuff. Too mountainous to farm, to far from sea to be desirable, not centrally located to be a trading center like Chicago. Also it's culture hasn't been marketed well ("Squeal like a pig boy" Is all most people know. However it does have the best cultural offerings of anyplace in the country. If you want to see what is uniquely American other than cowboys, go to Appalachia.

Trump is pushing hope. It might be coming from a different philosophy than what speaks to you, but it is very much there. People want to work, Trump wants to drive the economy so they can. I can hear you saying, but healthcare! he's going to let people lose healthcare and die. That's not true. He wants everyone to have access. The truly disabled and abandoned will still get benefits and help from the government. What you don't realize is some people are too proud to take government handouts. They won't sign up for Obamacare if forced or they won't use it. I know a lot of people like this suffering with medical conditions that just won't use obamacare. These people aren't poor. They just can't afford healthcare. Costs have skyrocketed. Even if the govt. is paying, that is our money. When Obamacare came to fruition, I had to drop healthcare because premiums went up so much as I had my own business. Obamacare killed entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are America. Many Americans are a strange lot and that's what makes us so special. Many of us want to tell the company to shove it and strike out on our own. You just can't do that anymore with Obamacare, you're turned into a wage slave with no control over your life.

I'll tell you what really finally brought me to Trump. I realized his ways were just like the ways of every person I ever met that knew what they were doing and was successful. Liberal or conservative, those people know where the rubber meets the road and what's true and what's bullshit. Trump knows what works.
