[Discussion] What are some nightmare-worthy wedding stories you have heard or lived?

The worst wedding thingie I had to be involved in was my friend [28M]'s wedding to a woman [early 20s] he had known for about 6 months. Now I say thingie because they actually did not go through with the wedding.

My friend is this kind of Hipster-Playboy, quite smart, but always screwing up the good in his life in an unthinkable way. About a year ago, he moved out of Québec for a job in Ontario (Windsor Area). Quickly he met a girl (who makes a ton of money as a Cam Girl), sold all his stuff, and moved-in with her. Within 3 months they were engaged and set a date for September 2017.

At this point, my friend had quit his job (he is notoriously leaving job after job), and was living out of this woman's money. The extravagant engagement ring he purchased for her was bought with her very own credit card.

They both proceeded to splurge in order to create the most uncanny reflection of an Edward Sharpe music video for their wedding. They purcased a strip of land where they would hold the wedding (mix of forest and glade), she got a dress, he got a custom tweed and hemp suit, built a damn gazebo, etc. The final breakdown was adding to more than 700k, and I know for sure they did not go in debt for that.

Well, fast forward to the week before the wedding.

I get a call on the Wednesday evening (wedding being on the Saturday), thinking my friend was calling to ensure I would be there at X hour. Turns out he's calling to tell me (one of 5 guest without Facebook) that the wedding is off.

His Fiancée had walked on him fiercely shagging her best friend (MOH) from behind, in the shower of her own bathroom. I will spare the details, but it was very graphic.

The Fiancée had then proceeded to throw them out of her house (You Go Girl!), naked, and then threw their clothes from the window. My friend had to call his mom for her to purchase him a bus ticket back to Montréal, as he was living out of Fiancée's pocket.

Him and I don't talk much anymore, that kind of was the "one too many" of these acts of his.

So that is my terrible wedding/planning-related story!

I heard the former Fiancée sold the land and gave the Gazebo to a community centre.
