[Discussion] What do communists think of the continuum of capitalists?

Thanks for writing all that out. Right now I probably fall under proletariat under that definition, though I'm treated extremely well by my manager/employer so I don't know if it's fair to be grouped with sweatshop workers.

Once I move to entirely investment income I might be considered bourgeoisie or petty bourgeoisie since I would effectively be working for myself. It's a ton of work to manage an investment fund. You can't really guess your way through it, so you end up spending hours each day just reading financial statements and news to keep up with it all, and then you have to build models to compete with every other guy doing the same thing. I can't really say I'd feel comfortable with the idea of not being able to invest my excess production.

I'm not really sure I agree with communism though I can see why some people would want it. I definitely don't like the idea of abesentee ownership and the idea of the propogation of wealth through generations. But I do think people who can get ahead should be able to if it's through their merit. Like in college I had two roommates and all three of us were in the same-ish program rm1 spent all his time starting small businesses and rm2 spent all his time smoking weed and playing video games. I spent my time studying. Rm1 and I are quite well off in our respective careers, but rm2 is not. I can't say I disapprove of the results of that.
