I don't have horror stories, but I did use a highly rated tech in my area who was just lazy and was a little overloaded with jobs. I don't think he did much to my guitar other than restring it as it still buzzed with the thicker strings. He did an on-the-fly truss rod adjustment in front of me b/c I complained of the buzz when I went to pick it up. And I asked him to re-intonate and he did so, but in a half-ass way as well.

Regardless of his slowness and half-assery set-up, I'll never use him again. There's too many other highly rated techs in my area that I can use and have used. Unfortunately, they're all very busy, but they do an A+ job and hand me my guitar back withing 3-5 days.
