I don't agree with that. They don't walk on eggshells. They still make offensive jokes, they just apologize if they offend people when they do. Which is very different.

If your goal is to offend people then you're an asshole. If your goal is to be funny and offend someone in the process its natural to say, "hey I didn't mean to offend, I was just trying to be humorous". Comedians do that often. They often skirt a line and sometimes offend people with darker subject matter and plenty of comedians have apologized for that.

Good example is Daniel Tosh, he said something like, "rape is always funny", then an audience member said rape is never funny or something. Obviously at this point the audience member is an idiot and in the wrong here. Tosh replied something like, "wouldn't it be funny if she got raped by like 5 guys right now". That is where the line is crossed, and he apologized for it.

There is a difference between dark comedy and just being offensive. ImGoingToHellForThis is an example of the latter 99% of the time.

I also disagree with you saying its teens that can't handle shit. The anti-PC crowd is full of young reddit gamer types 15-24 type kids. Reddit is HUGE on that kind of shit and main demographic is young sheltered white kids.

I love dark humor, and I love all sorts of jokes on race, sex, rape, all kinds of stuff. But it doesn't bother me in the slightest if other people don't like that shit and like a content warning. As long as they are polite and not weird about it (see TiA or general 'trigger') culture. Take my mother for instance. She hates watching violent movies or war movies. It doesn't 'trigger' her, it just doesn't sit well with her and makes her uncomfortable (she was physically abused as a child). So most shows that are violent content warnings, and movies also have content warnings when they show the rating.

I get not liking the whole crazy trigger culture. But I really don't see what general content warnings hurt as long as they don't get really weird and hyper specific (I'm a Apple-kin and watching them eat apple pie triggered me!).
