Have a mate I've known since school who was the biggest fan you could imagine. It was never a problem for me because I barely got to go games growing up but once he was priced out it wasn't even a question for him. It wasn't a conscious effort or trying to prove a point, he didn't turn his back on the club or fall out of love for it. It was a natural schism in which he had no choice. Going the match is all he had ever known as a supporter. Imagine if suddenly all the streams and live television dropped out of existence. How could we ever define our selves or find an identity within the supporter base?

Now he puts his money into travelling and enjoying the fan culture of other clubs and I don't think he misses it. There's nothing intrinsically special about the club, the people of liverpool make it special because they're our family and friends, and were all part of the culture and history of the city. But if I woke up tomorrow and the club wasn't there anymore nothing would change, we'd still have those things.

I'm undecided on foreign support, I don't see the point eventhough I'm sure others will have their opinions on the matter. They'll never know what it really feels like, to jump the bus into town and have the two auld fellas in the seat front having a heated discussion about how good this player is compared to Dalglish. They'll never have those memories of watching the match through a pub window or splitting into blue and red to play a 26 a side game of try and get a touch. They'll wear the badge but never wonder with pride when you look up at the pier head and eventhough you've done it so many times before you first understand what it means.

It's a sad situation, I wish we could all have it our way but in trying we've all lost something and it shows. It's a matter of time, Klopp nor Fowler can stop what's happening. Soon it won't be out club anymore so we'll take what's special and find something else.
