My favorite animal is the Mantis Shrimp.
There are several reasons why this animal is so cool. The first reason is the fact that it has the most elaborate visual system in the entire animal kingdom. To put this into perspective, humans have three color receptive cones in our eyes to perceive the colors: red, green, and blue. These three cones allow humans to see a wide variety of colors. The Mantis Shrimp has 16 different color receptive cones! This animal can see colors that are completely unknown to us. No amount of magic mushroom or LSD will make humans trip out enough to see colors the way a Mantis Shrimp sees them.
The second reason I like the Mantis Shrimp is that it is a vicious hunter. This is the Mike Tyson of the aquatic world. The Mantis Shrimp has two appendages that it uses to knock the fuck out of anything that looks at it funny with the same velocity and force of a 0.22 caliber rifle in three-thousandths of a second. Whatever is on the receiving end of "Law and Order" (that is what I would name my fists) will be feeling around 1,500 Newtons of force. THE WATER AROUND THE PUNCH BOILS FROM THE FORCE OF THE PUNCH! Mantis Shrimps are such voracious predators that they will kill whatever else is in an aquarium with them. They can also break the aquarium's glass if it feels like it.
These aren't your Red Lobster seafood shrimp. These guys will fight back if you put your hands in the aquarium. That is why I think they are badass.
