The Disturbing State of Amiibos

Little backstory first...I'm really new to the Amiibo craze, which is odd considering I'm a Nintendo fan from birth and a collector by nature...but when these were announced, I horribly miscalculated and thought this will bomb badly for them.

Whoops.

So now I'm playing catchup, and when I say I just started, please understand I mean like...days ago, when I heard Shulk was being re-released. My GameStop manager friend clued me into the new preorder so while I missed the initial run, I did luck into the unicorn's next batch.

Anyway, moving on.

This morning I drove up to my TRU about an hour early and was surprised to see nobody else there...which continues until about 20 minutes before opening, another vehicle pulls up with 2 guys and I'm sure they're there for the same reason as me.

Well, 10 minutes before opening an employee walks out and informs me the other TRU in the area poached any extras they had for their own preorders so I'm basically SOL without one...and goes to tell the other person the same. We both leave.

I head over to the nearby Best Buy to see if they've got a restock since I'm waiting on GameStop to open (still haven't received my MM console yet) and walk inside at open; make a beeline for the Amiibo area with one guy and an older female.

Nothing new there either; no surprise...but the female launches into a tirade about how she's seen me at other stores, how she has this 12 year old son, am I buying these for scalping online, how that's so unfair and I'm unfair and her kid just wants to play with the toys.

All the things I could have said to her, wanted to say to her...is this the kind of thing I get to expect now? I mean...maybe she has been looking for a specific one for weeks while I just started...but that's just kinda lousy behavior. No way she's seen me trolling anywhere, much less scalp anything. I've got one...one amiibo so far, and another on preorder from Japan.

I didn't say a word to her other than one "maybe" and an "okay" or two and walked away...cuz if I opened my mouth there was gonna be a diatribe such as she'd never heard before, and it's too early in my day to get into a confrontation over a toy.

Anyway...I guess I just wanted to vent, see if anyone else had similar experiences, and say hello to the group! Looking forward to being fully onboard by the time Wave 4 launches.
