Divorce and finances.. How do you handle things like assets, etc

IMO, this is the wrong attitude. You're better off playing tough in the beginning and then settling. For a lot of women in divorce, they're angry and bitter and want to "win" over their ex husband. So fight aggressive in the beginning and then settle in the end to make it look like you're taking concessions over stuff, even if it is stuff you don't want. Try to do this all before lawyers get seriously involved and don't do anything to make things worse, obviously. Learn to walk away from stuff that obviously has very little value but never walk away from stuff that has real value like homes, cars, stocks, retirement accounts and so on. The key rule to follow is to look very objectively: does the item INCREASE in value long-term? If yes, that's the stuff you want to fight over - usually it is house, stocks, real estate and so on.
