DmC First Impressions

Well, I just finished getting the last achievement in DmC to round out 100% achievement completion for the entire franchise so here's what I'll say:

It's an awful game on PC. We don't have access to the Definitive Edition which fixes quite a few problems so the release from 2013? Yeah, it's not good. The combat is fine until they introduce colour coded enemies-once they join in? The combat goes downhill because now you're forced to fight certain enemies with only certain weapons which is not what DMC is when you're playing as Dante. You can use anything and everything but in DmC, that goes out the fuckin' window.

It gets even worse on higher difficulties because they throw them at you nearly all the fucking time so you either take them out of the fight ASAP or you'll have your weapon bounce off one of them and suddenly your combo is fucked because a demon got to wind up a free attack while you're recoiling.

Also, you know how people generally don't like the platforming in DMC? Yeah, DmC is just like 'We heard you don't like platforming so half the fucking game has platforming and sometimes it doesn't work properly!'. It's ridiculous how many platforming parts there is in that game and there's times where you're supposed to chain the hooks and it just doesn't work and you fall and lose health (or a life on HoH/HaH).

It's still got plenty of bugs as well, especially Vergil's Downfall DLC. There's a really, REALLY bad bug where you can't do your charged Upper Slash that sends you into the air with the enemy. You can try to do it and Vergil will act like he's hit a shield. You have to use a regular Upper Slash to fix it but the second you do another one, the charged one is broken again.

The writing is dreadful as well. Andrew fucking Tate might as well have been on the writing team because the women in the game are called whore, bitch etc. constantly but nothing is said about the men in the game. There's also the Succubus boss who is just needlessly crass. Constantly talking about bodily fluids and excretions and it's fucking vile to listen to it. Then there's Donte and Vergin. Donte has some bits where you think he's actually developing and then he just goes backwards again. Vergin is just... Ugh.

Speaking of Vergin. The boss fight against him in the final mission? Awful. You can't get into the flow of it because every time you take out a chunk of his health, it interrupts the fight with a cinematic shot of him being knocked back. LET ME JUST FIGHT HIM!

Honestly, the game can be summed up by the song that plays in the Spawn of Mundus boss fight where one of the lyrics is 'Hey, you, what the fuck is wrong with you?' which essentially sums up my thoughts as I played the game. There is so many disturbing things in that game...
