so doctors will allow this but not let a 23 year old get their tubes tied

My dad was also around the same age when I was born. It was like being raised by an emotionally neglectful, cranky, sexist, racist old grandpa.

I say "raised" but he was never around because he'd be out drinking with colleagues every night and banging a constant stream of secretaries (fun fact, he named me after one of his secretaries. Yay for me.). On the rare occasions he was home he would just throw endless tantrums, shout, slam doors, treat my mom like a maid, humiliate me and my sister on our appearance/hair/clothes, ban any friends from coming to the house, make everyone at home walk on eggshells the whole time.

I'm 36 now and he's still kicking about in his mid eighties now, and his grandpa energy is stronger than ever. Except the unbridled rage has been replaced by a constant 'woe is me' victim mentality. When you have a parental age gap that huge there is literally no possibility of having anything in common.
