Does anybody have any insight into the mindset of grown adults who just don’t seem to care at all about their house and street?

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Outdoor cats destroy wildlife, leave their waste everywhere, transmit disease between each other, fight which causes injuries and if not neutered reproduce and create more cats (this sounds evil but it isn’t, I love cats and have two of my own which remain indoors) but we already have far too many without homes.

I think people find it cruel to keep them in but we have shelves, cat trees and other things for them to climb, toys, laser pointers and a big “catio” for them to spend time outdoors in. They’re super happy to be in as long as you spend time playing and petting them. Selfishly I can rest easy knowing they’re not going to be hit by cars, harmed by humans or other cats and aren’t causing issues for other people.

Sorry for the rant, I don’t hate people who let their cats out and don’t hate outdoor cats, it’s not their fault but I do think letting cats roam outdoors can create a lot of issues.
