Does anybody else have intrusive thoughts?

I think we all experience intrusive thoughts at one point or another. On the path of spiritual growth and development, we face two adversaries which are in league with one another: the ego, or fabricated self, and the demonic.

To be clear, I am not an Evangelical nor a Fundamentalist, but I do believe that darkness and evil exist, and this is acknowledged in all religions. Even the Buddhists acknowledge this, calling it "illusion."

Intrusive thoughts, especially of the negative kind, are usually indicative of the ego and/or the demonic railing against us on some love. This can come in the form of guilt, "sinful" thought, sadness, depression, anger, or wrath, etc.

Prayer is the key to clarity of thought, feeling, and intent. Prayer is not a practice meant for unrolling our well worn and developed wish lists. Prayer is meant for communion and alignment with the Creator. Stillness, silence, solitude... in these we can find peace, guidance, and love.
