Does anybody ever build up a vacation so much in their mind, only to be disappointed when it comes?

I have read it is a thing but have thankfully not experienced it. Well, at least not for an entire vacation. Sometimes a tour or meal hasn't lived up to the hype, but that happens anywhere even back home. I think possibly it depends on the person a little bit. Like do you understand yourself enough to know a bit about what you'll enjoy? Or sometimes the situation. I don't recall travel with my ex as being quite the exuberant, exhilarating experience I've had traveling with my now spouse. Probably because of his different approach to living sucking the life out of my own approach there.

Edit: For those reading I did not mean that last as a nasty comment on my ex. Our biggest issue was we simply had a completely different view on and approach to life and living. Seems a little viva la difference can be a good thing to relationships but maybe being diametrically opposed all the time can just get all too wearing. I'm sure my difference in views also wore on him. Carry on!
