Does anybody remember this sub from around a year ago?

I'm just going to throw it out there that the state of the sub varies fairly widely throughout the year. Towards the beginning of the new year brings an influx of Resolutioners, which in turns leads to the mods being pretty overrun with shitposts. It's not the Resolutioners fault, this just isn't the place for it. That's what the sticky is for. Then, you've to remember that there's not an awful lot happening for people atm (in general). I would say a good majority of us are probably bulking still (or permabulk masterrace) and are just going through the motions until they start cutting. Then (for me anyway) I find myself more engaged in bb in general, because it becomes that much harder to put the effort in the gym - plus I'm always on the lookout for new shit to make the whole process easier. But wait 'til the summer hits and you'll find that a. the Resolutioners have either given up or b. they get the whole idea of the sub and are getting used to the general feel of it. I also think that the quality of content swings greatly between events - once the Arnold comes by, you'll see more higher-quality content (along with the obligatory "look at x's conditioning" pics), but in general it'll pick up. All in all, I would say this place is doing pretty well - just don't take it too seriously. By all means, if you want to take the whole thing to the level you're talking about, there are plenty of good places to do that (I personally think places like /r/powerlifting or /r/weightroom are pretty good for the thing you're talking about). Now I'm not saying you can't have that here - in fact, I think we have some of the best users that contribute hugely (big up the likes of /u/DLTBB and /u/3_Suns and loads more that I'm forgetting about) and I honestly think that /u/Chicken_Mcfugget has made a difference around here with regard to good conversation. But in general, I think this place is just somewhere for people to come to share how things are going for them in general (in the DD) and just have a bit of craic. I know you can see the same old jokes done to death at times and yeah things can get a bit tedious sometimes, but that's just a small part of the bb community as a whole and you've just got to understand that some people enjoy that kind of thing. I don't see much wrong with it anyway if it helps people stay interested in bb. Also, I will just mention that you start off with saying:

"It used to be a great place to talk about bodybuilding - form, lifts, routines, diets, what is/isn't working and why, supplements, etc."

There honestly aren't that many secrets to this kind of thing that everyone hasn't already heard before, man. I can't remember how many times I used to see the same old "My chest is lagging" thread and then for someone to just say "landmine press" or something. What more can be said about things like supplements? Whey and Creatine - everything else is optional really, and even then not everyone will need to supplement. This isn't like we're back in the Golden Era where there'd be a new workout/technique coming out from somewhere every other week and the majority of the time, if someone is having a problem in a particular area, they can search for it and see that it's most likely been answered before. So if you take all that out, what else is there to talk about then just general bb stuff? I can see entirely where you're coming from, but it's all just swings and roundabouts man. At least, that's just my own opinion and my way of looking at things.
