Does anyone actually dieting eat oatmeals ?

Oatmeal is my favourite breakfast! Reasons:

  • it's low-calorie but packs a fibre + protein punch
  • it's easy and quick to make, especially when I'm lazy af and use the oatmeal pouches.
  • it's versatile, and I can make it sweet or savoury
  • it tastes good
  • it fills me up for at least 3 hours!
  • it's easy on my stomach, since I'm not a huge fan of food in the mornings.
  • I don't like drinking my calories, so that excludes protein shakes/smoothies
  • and I'm vegetarian, so I don't get protein from meat.

During weekdays I just microwave 1/4cup plain oats with 1/2c water, cinnamon, and salt, and then I top it with banana and peanut butter.

During the weekends, though? Turn it into a gorgeous feast. I put 1/2cup oats, 1/2cup milk, a few tbsp of water, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/2 a banana in a medium pot. The banana gets all carmelized and tastes amazing. Turn on to medium heat and stir continuously until the water is absorbed (add more if you feel you need to). Meanwhile throw some frozen berries into a saucepan with a bit of water and stew them until they're all melty and syrup-like. Put the oatmeal in a bowl, top with the rest of the banana, the warm berry compote, peanut butter, sunflower seeds and raisins. SO GOOD.
