Does anyone actually use Macquarie as an everyday bank?

I used to work for them in their call centre. I'd say the biggest advantage they have is their customer service.

For example, if you get a direct debit request come in and don't have the funds in your account to cover it then they'll give you a call, let you know what's happened, and ask if you want them to hold off on the direct debit request so you can transfer funds between your accounts so the payment goes through or if you just want to cancel the request entirely.

They also really don't like have any queues on the phone lines so you usually don't have to wait on hold for very long until someone answers your call.

It was a super shitty job and I hated every second of it, but I can't deny that they're by far the best Australian bank when it comes to customer service.
