Does anyone else feel like they're just an observer and not an active participant in life?

it helped me to start doing things alone. Find an event that you want to be involved in and just go. For the social anxious this is hard but I guarantee it will help you even more. Talking is a skill and it is one that people my age have become increasingly worse at developing.

Go to the movies. Go to a concert. My personal goal is to be able to do a 5k eventually and get involved in that. So I'm working out and running to reach that goal.

I was talking with an older co-worker(mid 30s) who was talking with a younger co-worker(19). He was basically like, "you realize you are getting older when you can enjoy doing things alone". The reality is that you and your friends schedules are going to get increasingly more complicated. You need to learn to enjoy hobbies by yourself. Otherwise you will never do anything.

Still need a social life but don't tie it to volunteering or getting out of the house.
