Does anyone else hate that you can't go to a pub and get drunk anymore?

I know that it's not necessarily the pubs fault that they have pokies as it's very difficult for restaurants/bars/pubs etc to make a profit, which is further complicated. More complaining at the world/government regulations/the state of general world economics rather than meaning to direct it at the pub itself, same with the cost of food and drinks etc

I do pace myself and I don't get sloshed at 9pm, it is just ridiculous when anyone who is even mildly tipsy won't be served. By predrinking I didn't mean that I smash half a bottle of spirits and then go out, I mean I have 1-3 drinks at home first before I go out or a night out turns into a $150 venture surprisingly quickly. An anecdote I have for this is once my mate came back to our table and put a beer in front of me, I downed the remaining 3 or so cm left in my previous drink and got kicked out for "excessive alcohol consumption in too short a period of time". The drink I finished was my second beer of the night.

In regards to what I meant about security hassling people, it feels unfair when you go to enter a pub, are smiling and polite, say hello and have ID ready without giving them any trouble at all and the security talks to you like they'd just watched you kick their dog
