If you are really as capable as you say you are, why don't you just do it, go the partnership way, which is free with the # you got? Sales is a tough job, you don't need to run a fund if you got the sales skills. I ran up 200k to 2mil over the last ten years without begging for any external money, because I knew I couldn't beg 10k if my life depended on it. Sure tons of people make more than that with a job, but I also enjoy investing so it was ok for me.
