Does anyone instantly think someone is less intelligent for believing in god

One of my friends who's an ex-muslim is extremely intelligent, intellectual & philosophical, yet was a religious muslim up until 17. He explained to me how it works.

Indoctrination as a kid -> 100% certainty as a kid that islam is true

100% certainty that islam is true = 100% certainty all doubts are from satan and not legit and 100% certainty that dropping from 100% certainty to 99.99999999% certainty without having done everything you can to prevent that instantly renders you a kafir who goes to hell for eternity if he dies in that state

Also, 100% certainty that ~1 second of the least bad level of hell is worse than 100 years of the worst torment any human has ever felt on this planet severity-wise, and that kafirs (disbelievers) get something 80.000.000x worse than the least bad level of hell

And from that -> Suppresses doubts that could harm the certainty at all cost and with all strength

He only became atheist because he accidentally made one of his doubts so powerful that it shredded his faith into pieces against his will. And he did that by not suppressing the thoughts the doubt consisted of during a time where it couldn't harm his faith regardless of whether or not it was suppressed.

He said he's glad that he broke out of that prison and is much happier now.

So no, I don't have this bias against theists. Often times they're actually smart for not doubting because they think that's the best option and can't know better due to being in that prison I explained above. So I don't think theism & intelligence are too much related.
