Does anyone know/recommend a book called The Lost Ways by someone named Claude Davis?

First, just looking at the premise - going back to the "old ways" - it is almost certainly not a good book for beginners, regardless of the quality of the content.

The reality is that you're not going to be homesteading on an urban or suburban plot of land, and that if there is even a disaster that permanently sends us back to the pre-industrial days, most people are gonna die - not because they lack skills, but because we can't support our current population densities without modern infrastructure.

Luckily, such disasters are pretty unlikely, compared to all the other situations where the "old ways" don't really help - run-of-the-mill recessions, car accidents, house fires, etc.

Secondly, what gives me a pause is that when you search for the book, what seems to come up is a lot of shady sites and dubious reviews that sound awfully like bad SEO. I mean, you be the judge: link 1, link 2, etc.
