Does anyone have a solid answer as to why Florida can't recruit?

The main underlying cause has been how horribly mismanaged our football program has been from the AD down. Foley might get lauded for his overall body of work but from a revenue-generating sport perspective he's overall extremely mediocre and was straight garbage from 2010 up until he retired. There is no excuse for one of the wealthiest athletics departments in the country to be behind almost every major school in terms of facilities almost across the board, but especially in football. We're just now looking at building a football facility which means it likely won't be built before 2019 at the earliest which is unfuckingbelievable. Not to mention the embarrasment that was his handling of Muschamp's final two years and how he was publicly held hostage by CSU's president during the McElwain hire. To throw basketball in the mix how about hiring a no-name to replace a legend and the best ncaa coach not named K, instead of going for someone - anyone - with name-recognition. Foley was too enamored with bargain-hunting, hidden gem philosophy to really be effective when the stakes were high.

Hopefully Stricklin is a lot more aggressive running our athletic department. Judging by the planned upgrades to Dudy-Noble and his various hires I think he will be.
