Why does the CEO of SLR, u/doublevr, always act unprofessional? This meme is the pinnacle of every comment I read from him

Hello friends, here's my take on all of this.

Reason 1. It's a stressful time for a lot of people in the world right now.

I believe he is either Ukranian or has some friends/family in the region. He has posted on the SLR forum that a lot of what is going on in the region has him concerned and he worries about it each day often bumping threads on his forum on the topic. It's a very personal issue to him. So you have an ongoing war in your region, and then you have all the trouble that comes with running a porn platform with payment processors, studios, customer tech issues, and then you have people on here talking crap to him to antagonize him saying stuff like I am done with SLR.

Reason 2. Any Publicity is Good Publicity + Drama = Entertaining

They say if people are talking about you, that means you are in their head and that is marketing. As much as people complain about, this thread is at the top on the busiest VR forum in the world and is likely getting thousands and thousands of views and driving massive amounts of traffic to SLR. Trust me, he wouldn't waste his time here if it wasn't working. If he doesn't respond, people complain that they don't respond. If he does respond, people complain. So either way at the end of the day, you can't win and it's much easier to just be yourself and be honest than try to craft a carefully worded BS answer that everyone knows is a BS answer. He likely enjoys interacting and being honest with no filter. There are going to be a lot of politically correct people that are going to be very offended by some stuff he says, and then there are going to be a lot of people that laugh and look forward to him showing up and telling someone to go fuck themself, fuck off, or say we're better off without you. So he might lose 1 person, and he might gain 5 from a viral thread. At the end of the day, nobody signs up based on his posts anyways. They sign up based on the value of the platform and the content.

Reason 3: People Are Taking All This Too Seriously

First off, this is a porn forum. Some people have their dick in their hands while they are reading your responses. This is all like one big comedy hour really as we chat about fapping and porn and crazy shit. There are people with some funny usernames on here. Everyone should lighten up. It's not that serious and he's actually a really nice guy and like others have said has done a lot for VR porn.

There are companies that have done far worse in this world that have had lots of their employees that went on strike, and complain and most people here still don't give a shit and buy all their products and use their services. Basically it's ok for their CEO to hire and use slave labor but if he comes on a forum and tells you he doesn't need your business, then oh well that's when he finally crossed the line.

Reason 4: It's Really All About The Survival Of VR Porn

I think a lot of the DLNA stuff is related to the long term concerns of piracy and how to deal with it. Piracy has wiped out a lot of media companies and cut into their profit margins to be able to continue operation. Many famous porn studios are gone. Where is Red Light District for example? Entire catalogues are pirated everywhere. What SLR is dealing with right now is they are trying to sell interactive scripts that cost a lot of money to have made and coded and the file sizes are so small that they likely get pirated everywhere far too easily. So how do you keep building the VR related tech and design the latest and greatest scripts and toys, it's a challenge that they all have to figure out and get ahead of. The current strategy has been to knock down all their prices so low so it's more convenient for you to sign up and download from them than to pirate it hopefully. I signed up on BadoinkVR and 18VR for $10 for example. Such a deal is just crazy when you see how many good scenes are available on many platforms. SLR for $20 a month is insane. A lot of the deals are crazy good. You have multiple agreggator platforms as well like POVR, VRPorn, possibly more in the future that over time it's like a price war. How do you stand out, you keep innovating. How do you keep innovating, you need to keep your profit margins going well.

Reason 5: A lot of People Don't Care

I think there are a few that were upset and complaining about the initial risk of losing DLNA, many others are using Skybox, Pigasus, and now there's new softwares to sort all this DLNA stuff. Many don't even own a Handy or care about scripts. It's the people that have to have it that one way or else that are upset and making it a big issue. They see it as a paywall and not getting to use what you paid for a specific way. Yet a lot of others have been using other software now for a long time or are making the switch. I think you can make the switch without talking bad about anyone or any company. My point is I'm sure he had his reasons for exploring removing DLNA that were very strong and now he's got rid of that strategy based on the feedback he got from users. Keep in mind most companies don't take any feedback at all from customers and won't even change the most horrible things on their platform for the better that are horrible right now.

Reason 6: He's An Easy Target Cause He's Here and Interacting

I'm sure a lot of his early responses started off very politically correct and people kept pushing him. English is not his first language so some at first is lost in translation and may come across harsher at first. But then you get downvoted into oblivion and you're like, you know what, f you. haha Don't enjoy our content and site, we know it's awesome and we don't want you enjoying it. A lot of people are saying he shouldn't post here like all this, and eventually you know what he might not as much one day. A lot of stuff is being figured out. A lot of people will give suggestions/feedback and maybe one day you will get your cookie cutter pr response template from someone on here that responds every 5 days to not at all like a lot of other VR studios. As they grow even bigger, one day that may be the case and you'll look back and remember when he posted here and would shoot the shit with everyone on here and on the SLR forum and would share real inside info on the industry with everyone. He's shared some very interesting stories on his forum, he's an interesting person and I appreciate his honesty and sharing stuff with everyone and caring about what everyone thinks to even show up and interact.

Reason 7: A lot of this stuff will be forgotten anyways

The SLR harem scene is coming out. It's going to be insane. Did he really wrong you? Not really, he responded to a few people that were upset about DLNA going away and in the end SLR realized it wasn't the best idea and reversed it. So what is the issue. Are you against them based on principle. Again, they did nothing to you. His company is providing you the most awesome porn experiences in the history of porn.

Like I mentioned previously, the real issue is piracy, business survival, and trying to innovate and grow. He is busting his ass to try to innovate and do awesome shit. Go look at the SLR forum, he's very passionate and he's a good guy. I am rooting for their success at SLR and excited to see what the future of VR porn brings. It will likely be lead by what they are doing so keep voicing your thoughts but don't take it all so personal. A lot of stuff is being figured out right now and things are improving fast. Stay positive and optimistic.
