Does dating someone with depression ever get better? The relationship is a constant roller coaster and I feel inadequate.

Yes it does get better. She just needs time to break through it and constant resilient support.

I was in a relationship for 2 years with a girl who was severely depressed. Unfortunately for me when she did finally get through it she dumped me. I guess people see things differently when they are depressed. When she got better she thought 'why stick with this guy? i can do so much better'. Obviously this shouldn't happen to you i just got unlucky.

If for any reason things get too much for you and it ends. Then just be warned that you would need to do it in a very slow way. Not the usual 'look things aren't working' call. That can cause extremely unpredictable behavior with someone who is not emotionally stable.

I also have had depression. Recovered perfectly but recently relapsed when my current long term partner ended things. It was a brutal shock that came as a total surprise. After that i got my bike up to 180mph on the motorway and come very close to slamming it into a crash barrier. The blood was just pumping and the tears trickling down my helmet and i honestly wanted nothing more. Now every time i get on the bike i have the constant urge to crash it at a high speed just thinking how good it would feel. No im not suicidal i don't think its just a erratic behavior of being depressed i would imagine. Although it sure is very easy to kill yourself even accidentally doing the above!
