No, evolution has no goal other than to make it easier for organisms to survive and reproduce. All the functions you mentioned had to develop but there was no actual intent behind it because those changes simply happened due to differences from indivual to individual. The ones that were better equipped to pass on their genes did bring their specific change in the genepool while other individuals without those were less likely to.

For the same reason (there being no intent in evolution), there are vestigial organs and other useless or non-beneficial quirks in humans, like wisdom teeth, the appendix (I am an exception to this, lol) and the laryngeal nerve.
