Why does God condemn homosexuality as a sin?

I'm just trying to understand if there are specific reasons given as to why homosexuality is considered a sin.

Mostly because God says it is, and because he created us, he gets to decide the morals. It also clearly goes against our natural design (and to all those who wish to point to 'observed' homosexual behavior between animals, let me tell you that we have observed infanticide, murder and cannibalism in animals as well, so unless you want to condone those behavior as-well, don't even bother...).

Why would God create homosexual people if it means that they must live a life without ever finding love?

This is a loaded question, you assume God made people as they are, yet he never intended people to be like this. Sin and the fall have distorted this world and humans lives. There are plenty of other vices that humans fall into like overeating, drug abuse, alcoholism and not to mention a whole load of birth defects and general bad luck bringing untold suffering. All a result of sin which brought the curse upon us. It was never meant to be so.

I believe there is a genetic basis for homosexuality, as defended by many recent studies.

Genetic studies to my knowledge have largely been inconclusive. However, plenty of social studies suggest there are factors that make people more likely to embrace the lifestyle.

Homosexuality doesn't seem to harm anyone. It just seems like two people who love each other.

This is false... The gay population has an undisputed much higher STD rate than the general population, as a result they also have shorter life expectancy aswell. There is also a lot of unhealthy attitudes and behaviors such as bugchasers who go out with the intention of getting an STD. Not to mention, children who have been raised by gay parents often go through a lot of mental anguish in the feeling of abandonment by their biological mother or father (quite a few of these children have now reached their adult hood and spoken out) as well as teasing throughout school. Frankly, children are being treated as a commodity, to be bought and sold and their rights are always forgotten in this debate. http://askthebigot.com/2015/03/16/dear-dolce-gabbana-a-letter-of-support-from-children-of-gays-and-lesbians/

Why would God condemn homosexual people to be miserable if it's something they can't control, and they don't seem to be harming everyone?

Another loaded question. The current state of humanity is a result of sin and the fall. Also, plenty of non-gay people go through life without partners, never able to find love. Christians who cannot find a spouse are called to be celibate. Most are able to get past the pain. There are far worse examples such as being born with a serious birth deformity.

Is there any rational reason to deny homosexual people the right to marry?

I don't have time, you can research this for yourself. That said let me turn this around are there any rational reasons to deny children the right to a mother and a father? We as adults should aim to give children the best possible chance of good development. Time and time again, social science shows that children do best when raised by a mother and father. So why should we encourage another family structure?

Certainly, it may be considered wrong to do such, but there are many things that are sinful that are legal.

That basically boils down to, "its wrong but lets do it anyway cause there is other wrong stuff" Ultimately, our soles are eternal and only God's opinion really matters, not mans.

People who are not Christian do not need to be forced to be held to the same rules.

your right they don't, but Christians are called to be the salt and the light to the world. We are to resist evil and speak out against it (which BTW God says the world will hate us for), to protect the weak and defenseless (the children in this debate), to proclaim Gods way for the world. We are to resist evil, proclaim what is good, so sitting on our hands, staying silent while the culture grows more evil is a sin.
