Does having a master's degree help career growth? How has it helped you personally in the CS field?

Maybe. I’m in applied research. I just find people with BS and MS are doing most of the work, and anytime something is released my name gets attached simply because of the PhD. It makes me a little uncomfortable. My daily work definitely requires a lot of writing, reading up on current lit, and brainstorming, etc. But honestly I hate how bad my code is. Like I can hack things together but I wish I had a couple years at the junior engineer level before doing the phd so I had a better understanding of what good code is. Like I can give advice on big picture implementation, and I can easily connect and talk to other groups doing similar research.. So they seem to leverage my strengths, and sacrifice growing my technical abilities.
