Does a high SMP gpa trump a low undergrad gpa?

While you are right fortunately Im not in a position I need an SMP and havent attended it you are wrong I havent researched any of them in the past. In fact, let's actually see if you have done research on some of the things Ill ask you about and can answer them. If you can and show that I am wrong Ill readily admit my mistakes. If you cant, then all youve done is deliver a bunch of hot air and nonsense.

If you can give me a link that shows specifically where Loyola SMP grads get into and it is in fact better than Cincinnati Ill stand corrected and reverse my position on them.

Same thing with Tulane pharmacology. Show me where their grads specifically get into. Dont give me the "Oh 70% of our grads get into medical school or "80% of grads get into a professional school" type nonsense you hear many programs claim which is deliberately misleading and includes plenty of non US MD acceptances in those stats. I have a pretty good idea of how Cincinnati, Georgetown, Tufts, Temple's post bacc and Tulane's certificate grads do. Show me Tulane's Pharmacology grads do just as well and Ill be inclined to believe you. If not then this is just all bullshit.

There was actually someone on SDN who applied a year or two ago to MD schools after acing Tulane's Pharmacology program. There were several schools who did not recognize the program was an SMP and hence out right rejected him. Wayne St once he actually showed them it was legitimately reversed tehri rejection decision and chose to interview and ultimately accept him. However a number of other schools like VCU basically said "Too bad all decisions are final". So yes, all things considered color me skeptical for believing Tulane's Pharmacology program is as good an option at getting people into US MD schools unless you have specific proof otherwise.

RFU took about 60 SMP grads last year into their MD class out of 130 that started. Considering the average SMP matriculant there has a 3.2/27 those are not bad odds at all. The connection between the SMP staff and RFU's admission staff has been strong for many many years. The % of grads who get into RFU is declining but this is true of almost any SMP. The linkage keeps going down and down.

You are right on the Tulane ACP it's a certificate program. It's still by far and away the best one of these programs available in terms of getting you into an MD school outside of maybe TEmple's post-bacc. Get above the median MS1 class average on the tests and you are in as long as you dont completely tank the interview. Historically about 85% of people do it.

Boston U has a massive massive class. They have no problem listing where their grads go to which will include big name schools. However Ive never found anything on how many of their grads specifically get into US MD schools. Again, that is telling. Boston U MAMs takes alot of people who frankly have really low stats and it si a 2 year program. For many there are far far better options.

An SMP in and of itself guarantees you nothing. Schools have no specific incentive to take on these people with 3.3/31 type stats who need SMPs when they have so many candidates with 3.7/32's who dont. All you can do is go to a school that puts you in the best position and gives you the best chance of getting into a US MD school. Some programs are much better than this at others.
