Does poker actually give you the freedom one needs in life? Many people say they left a 100k career because they felt in slaved by a 8-5 job.

As other people said, it’s called grinding for a reason.

Fresh out of college, I learned that making an extra few hundred a week could turn into a better living than my shit job.

I could easily pull 60 hours/week when I was younger. It was easy money. Limit poker is the best grinding game IMO. Less variance, easier to manage a bankroll, math is really important. Your schedule is super flexible too.

After a few years though, it becomes exhausting. The people around you are degenerate gamblers. It’s hard to make new friends. Your social life suffers, because working weekends is mandatory. Once you start a “normal” life, your schedule isn’t as flexible anymore. Playing nights/weekends is hard with a family.

It’s not a real life, but if you need cash it’s doable. I did it for about 10 years while going to college for accountancy. Once I got a real job I was done.
