Does Toukiden 2 get better?

Spamming flash bombs is not a strategy viable in and of itself. For a majority of monsters, it doesn't stop them from attacking. In fact, it makes it HARDER to fight them because their attacks become less predictable. Flash bombs become useful when used to stop a particular attack, or to down a monster from the sky, which still requires game knowledge to know how to do.

You can only use a small number of traps during a fight as well, and especially in the end game, spamming them is just not a valid strategy.

The monsters in Monster Hunter are mechanically challenging. Their attacks have tells that you need to learn so you know what attack is coming, you need to learn when you can attack and when you can't. This is why I brought up the example of a new player going against an early boss with end-game equipment. If they don't know the monster, they're still going to have a rough time.

My experience of Toukiden 2 has consisted of mashing my way to victory, the only 'challenge' of the game doesn't come from difficult mechanics, it comes from the enemies simply doing a lot of damage. Not that it matters because healing yourself in Toukiden 2 is pathetically easy as well. The monsters give you ample time to step away and use recovery, or you can slap on leech and just not die. Monster Hunter has the infamous 'flex animation', and it's there for a reason. Because you need to understand when you're able to heal. Because even if you step away from the monster, a poorly timed heal can result in a net hp loss from a charge or a fireball.

If you can tell me that toukiden 2 gains actual, legitimate challenge, and an actual reason to defeat each monster, then maybe I'll keep playing. But if I can just press x to win, then I don't see the point in playing it.

And even then, even if it does get better in the late game, that still doesn't excuse the early game's complete suckage.
