Does USL still need MLS affiliation?

MLS growth in the past decade has been moderately slow (if we're talking tv rating and attendance), but it's certainly getting there. I'm really not sure what negative attention you're referring to. Don Garber is a shibag and I absolutely deplore how SUM is structured but we have to deal with what's on the table. There's also plenty of exciting things happening in that league. USL isn't designed to compete with MLS. At the moment it's barely more than a developmental league that also incubates future MLS expansion franchises. It's going to take decades before the American soccer landscape figures itself out but a strong functioning D2 will go a long way to help. Maybe take a little breather from #prorel twitter and like, i don't know, watch your local team play. There's only so much time in the world and the powers that be aren't going to change the way the pyramid is structured anytime soon.
