Why does Vengeance have a tiny population?

I played on the classic server and it was very good, I would like to imagine the TBC server is also.

As has already been said the main reasons for the TBC server not having decent population are the lack of hype for it and the subsequent low pop putting off further people from giving it a chance.

It kind of sad to think that it could potentially be the best server for TBC but no one is prepared to give it a chance since most are waiting for the much hyped Corecraft.

The release of Nost and Kronos however prove that hype is often overstated, I've played on all three now and from my experience Nost had more issues than Vengeance and while its a little early to compare Kronos, it has its share of issues and is certainly not as perfect as was implied pre-launch.

At this point I think it would be foolish to expect a 'perfect' launch from Corecraft (or a launch this decade it seems) even with all this development time, and Vengeance could turn out to be not significantly worse bug wise. Add in the fact that it has fully scripted classic zones and it could even make it into the better server.

I think what Vengeance needs to do put in some temporary features to entice people to give the server a try.

In my opinion a good feature would be to give a single lv 58 character to everyone when they start (and those already playing if desired). Since the 1-58 is generally not why people go to play on a TBC server, with x1 rates there is a significant grind before you even get to the part most people actually want to play. This can hardly be criticised since it is exactly what their only competitor (Corecraft) is doing by default.

If that is not enough another thing might be to merge the factions and auction house, as long as these can be reverted at a later date they will have a net positive effect. The only arguments against would be what it does to world pvp; but with the current population I dont think that is a big issue. Also the problem with it being a 'non-blizzlike' feature; but again I think having no one to play with is a much more pressing issue, and this doesn't have to be a permanent feature, just one to make the server playable until the population is high enough on both factions for it to be unnecessary.

If they made it clear these were just temporary promotions that would be stopped/reverted once they had a decent core population I don't think it would harm the integrity of the server. I don't know the chances of these or other features happening however since as far as I know the devs are quite adamant about staying as close to blizzlike as possible.
