Why doesn't Daft Punk take a bit more shit for having so many hits that are simply cashing in on other people's grooves?

"And yes, sampling is, of course, a legitimate art form in its own right." No it the fuck isn't. It's a craft. A craft is not the same thing as art. Making fucking pottery is not the same as Mozart, or, to put it more accurately, it hasn't been the same as Mozart for a very, very long time. Yes, it takes skill and taste to sample shit. That doesn't mean it's art in its highest vocation. You're going to have be a bit more complex than that. I sync up unedited pieces of sequences from movies with random songs, therefore creating a new third thing that comes out of their interaction. Do you think that I see myself as an Artist because of this? No, it's a fun aesthetic hobby. It's LOW. It's not the same thing as Shakespeare looking at the blank page and then coming up with Hamlet. This lack of a distinction between LOW and HIGH has completely wrecked everyone's fucking minds. You think you're being soooo 'liberal' by saying this stuff is, actually, all the same. Fucking pathetic. No it the fuck isn't.
