Dog Bodyguard

Apologies, I misunderstood and was addressing that they love to work in general.

I value realistic scenario based training but what the poster described sounds like a shitty, inexperienced, ignorant owner who wanted something novel, treats the dog like a cool toy, causing unnecessary anxiety to show off and almost certainly isn't providing it anywhere near the stimulation needed to keep that caliber of animal mentally well. For the price he paid and the fact that the breeder actually allowed the dog to be used in that environment, it was likely an equally shitty breeder.

Most overpriced protection dogs are washed out sports/police dogs, more expensive and inferior to the real deal as they lack the drive/nerves and sold to gullible people with lots of money who have been taken in. These flashy kennels (charlatans) are the gold plated expensive HDMI cables of the canine world but they know their market and don't care how the animal is treated thereafter. No respected kennel would dream of charging that much as their reputation and integrity is as important as money and they know their customers would go elsewhere. they also vet potential purchasers and their motives.

PPD's have become a big earner and people have exploited it and know their target market, those who haven't researched thoroughly and can't be bothered. For a dual purpose, special forces level dog with good lineage from a kennel that provides police & military dogs around the world, $15000 would be reasonable.
