DOTD Record: 2-1

Tennis, ATP Rotterdam, Soonwoo Kwon ML vs Alexander Zverev @ 2.63 at 13:00 CET

Obviously Zverev is the much higher ranked player, but he is returning from injury and has only played a handful of games since then in which he has looked far from convincing. One of his major strength before his serve was his massive serve which got him a lot of easy points and gave him some leeway in taking risks in other aspects of his game. But ever since his comeback his serve hasn't been on the same level as earlier with ace numbers quite low in comparison. His only sort-of-convincing match has been against Wawrinka who is in the twilight of his career and hasn't been that good himself in the past few months.

The other player is Kwon who had an excellent start to the year by winning the Adelaide 2 tournament beating a number of good players. But this was followed by a first round exit at the Australian Open (though I attribute this to the lack of rest between the two tournaments for him). He did have a shock loss in the Davis Cup against a lower ranked Bergs, but I'm writing that off as a shock upset. Overall, Kwon has been pretty good on hard courts this year and has a pretty decent serve and really good rallying game to hold his own against this version of Zverev.
